Learning for Leadership is a Public Charter School founded in 2006 serving Kindergarten (all day) through grade 12 students. Located in NE Minneapolis, Learning for Leadership is a public school - FREE, NO TUITION!

Offering small class sizes (24 students maximum) and individualized learning, Learning for Leadership is designed to support and nurture each student in a safe and encouraging environment.

Located at 3300 5th Street NE in Northeast Minneapolis, Learning for Leadership sits opposite (west of) Columbia Park and Golf Course just off St. Anthony Parkway. This location is ideal for offering students and families a convenient and safe location in a park-like setting.

The learning program features basic skills coursework augmented with teacher guided learning through hands-on projects and field trip experiences. Two days of each quarter are dedicated to project-based learning. These project days consist of small groups of students working with two teachers (e.g. Science and Math) on a concentrated subject. Students have the opportunity to choose their preferred class each semester.

Project classes offered have included:
Yearbook and Photography (Humans of Minneapolis) - Students explored different venues around the Twin Cities photographing and interviewing people. They created a Facebook page and Instagram account as well as a school yearbook. Check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/humansofmnpls?fref=ts
Nature Writing and Conservation in Minnesota - Students hiked in various state parks writing about their experiences.
Ad America! - Students studied marketing strategies including visits to advertising agencies. They then created their own ad.
The Life of an Artist - Students worked with clay to create terra cotta soldiers and visited the display of terra cotta soldiers at the Science Museum.
Disaster: Explosions! Students studied major explosions in Minnesota and visited different sites such as the Mill City Museum.

Students in grades K-4 are located in classrooms in one area of the school. The 5th and 6th grade classrooms are in the area adjacent to the Gym. The 7th, 8th grade and high school students are located in a separate area of the school.

Learning for Leadership employs three full-time Special Education teachers with highly-qualified educational assistants to assist students with specialized learning needs.

The current school capacity is 300 students.
