Learning for Leadership is a Charter School serving Kindergarten (all day) through grade 12 students. Located in NE Minneapolis, Learning for Leadership is a public school (free, no tuition). Offering small class size (22 students maximum) and individualized learning, Learning for Leadership is designed to support and nurture each student in a safe and encouraging environment. Located at 3300 5th Street N.E. in Northeast Minneapolis, Learning for Leadership sits opposite (west of) Columbia Park and Golf Course just off St. Anthony Parkway. This location is ideal for offering students and families a convenient and safe location in a park-like setting. The learning program features basic skills coursework augmented with teacher guided learning through hands on projects and field trip experiences. With each student's needs identified through development of an individualized learning program, the teachers monitor and assist students to succeed based on their own plan. Students in grades K-3 are located in classrooms in one area of the school. The 4th through 7th grade classrooms are in the area adjacent to the Gym. The 8th grade and High school students are located in a separate end of the school. Learning for Leadership employs three full-time Special Education teachers with several educational aides to assist students with specialized learning needs. The school will expand to 240 students for the fall of 2009. UPDATES: The calendar for 2009-2010 is now available. We do plan to continue our extended year Accelerated Pathways program beginning July 27-August 7 and after September 1 throughout the school year. We offer 20% more classroom time than traditional school districts. Please check the calendar page for the 2009-2010 calendar. This year we added SmartBoards in every classroom. Over the summer we will be finishing up the new stage with lighting and installing the new gym flooring and bleachers. |
